WELCOME TO STROUD’S
We are proud to be honored as the first U.S. restaurant to win a James Beard Award for Excellence in the “Home Style” category! It may surprise you that Stroud’s is the only Kansas City restaurant to be recognized by the James Beard Foundation.

In 1937, Stroud’s was known for it’s BBQ and beer after the end of Prohibition. You could enjoy 15 cent ribs and a Dick’s Beer for a nickel. Those were the days.
In the early 1940s, beef and pork were being rationed because of WWII. Stroud’s turned from a BBQ joint to the now famous “home of pan-fried chicken.”
